Mark D. Fishman
Mark Fishman is a partner with Cain & David, with 20 years of accounting experience. He has special expertise in taxation issues: state and local tax practice (SALT), multi-state tax planning, tax credits, nexus requirements, international taxation for inbound and outbound transactions, sales tax, ad valorem tax and resolving tax controversies. Mark is also well versed in “green” technology and the broad financial and tax benefits of solar and other sustainable technologies. His practice areas include manufacturing, technology, telecommunications, distribution, entertainers and athletes, and services companies.
Mark is a licensed CPA in the state of Georgia and a member of AICPA and GSCPA. He has served on AICPA’s SALT technical resource panel, been published several times in the Tax Advisor and is a noted speaker on tax issues. He has previously served as an adjunct professor at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. Prior to joining Can & David, Mark was senior tax manager with Habif Arogeti & Wynne, a large Atlanta-based accounting firm.
Originally from Gaithersburg, MD, Mark attended Longwood University where he majored in Accounting. He then earned a Masters in Taxation at American University. Mark entered the accounting profession because he enjoys helping people and unlike many people, he truly likes doing tax work. He says, “It’s a good feeling when you can help someone deal with the IRS or complete the proper planning to get a refund. Believe it or not, we do help.”
Now married and a resident of Atlanta, GA, Mark is also a sports fan who played soccer in college. He loves to travel and hopes to visit South Africa one day. His favorite color is purple.
